For the past 50 years, Scarborough Citadel, a community church of The Salvation Army, has made its home at the corner of Warden and Lawrence Avenues in Scarborough.
Neighborhoods have evolved, storefronts have come and gone, but our church has remained as a symbol of hope to all who enter in. Our mission is to be a transforming influence in this community by sharing the love of God and meeting people at their point of need.
It is our hope and prayer that as you explore this site, you will sense a warm welcome and discover that you are welcome here!
Are you hungry?
It’s not always easy to make ends meet, trying to keep up with the demands of living in a big city. For those in need of assistance, we offer an on-site food bank and Christmas assistance program.
Are you hungry for the Word of God?
As a Christian church, we are convinced that peace and contentment in this life depend on developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. In an effort to promote this understanding, we offer the following…
worship services that provide time for celebration, reflection, and prayer
a Sunday School program during the worship service which challenges and teaches our young people what it means to be a friend of God
Bible Studies for different age groups and interests
Mission Statement (Canada)
The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.
The Salvation Army is a Christian organization and part of the universal Christian Church.
Its message and the lifestyle it advocates are based on the Bible’s teaching. Its work is to make known the good news about Jesus Christ and to persuade people to become His followers. Everything The Salvation Army does is rooted in the faith of its members. The confidence Salvationists have in a loving and caring God finds outward expression in their love for humanity and their practical response to human need.
We worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Our services provide an opportunity for worship, celebration, prayer, reflection, and practical instruction from the Bible. Music is a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs, accompanied by piano, brass band and rhythm ensemble.
With Christ as our center; we will create and nurture a vibrant, integrated network of worship services, programs and community services to meet the holistic needs of our congregation and community.
As members of the body of Christ, we will each own the responsibility to create connections that will link the congregation and also partner strategically with our community and other partners.
We are committed to developing a congregation that is a church for all peoples, which will encourage individuals to choose how to utilize their spiritual gifts, talents and abilities.
